What is an Advocate?
Hello Amanda, and thanks for your interest in the Empire Recovery Center!
An Advocate at the ERC is not at all like a parole officer. Advocates are people who have gone through many of the trials and tribulations that the residents of the ERC have experienced, and become Advocates through a desire to help others as they were helped.
The word "Advocate" is defined as a person who speaks or writes in support or defense of a person or a cause. If you should become a resident of the ERC, that person would be you, and the cause is your freedom from addiction and a new and better life.
An Advocate helped me many years ago when I was a resident of the Empire, and she remains a trusted and respected friend of mine to this day. She helped me with support when it was needed, but also by tough love when that was needed.... and in my case the latter was more often necessary. ;)
I would sincerely encourage you to call the ERC, or better yet, just drop in and talk to them. It may well be the beginning of a new and better life for you-- a definite liberation.
Thanks for your permission to post this on our site, and Best of Luck!
