Wow, what a year this is already turning out to be! The Empire Recovery Center, both at its Residential and Outpatient locations, has experienced some changes recently, with some internal re-arrangements taking place this past June.

The transitions have been made with much cooperation, and everyone, including myself, is making the adjustments necessary to maintain our quality of care at both facilities. Changes will always be a part of our lives, both personally and professionally. Our goal is to move forward, never backward, and to grow from such changes.

Thank You, to all who have supported us recently and in the past, all of our employees and volunteers who make sacrifices for our organization, and all within the community who have strengthened the ERC through your personal and financial contributions. Without your help, it would not be possible to achieve the success that our organization has had through the years.

Much of my time as Director is spent performing my duties to this organization fiscally and administratively, which leaves me very little opportunity to work directly with our clients. Every now and then, however, I am afforded the opportunity to see my meetings and paperwork pay off as I watch a client grow and change right before my very eyes. This restores my focus and reminds me of why we do what we do for this organization and for one another.

It keeps me centered as to what our primary purpose as employees of the ERC and as human beings really is: To enrich our lives and those around us by following the principles embodied in the 12 Steps, to surrender our will and our life to the care and direction of a Higher Power, and to aid the still suffering chemical addict.

I cherish these moments of humility and perspective, that make all of my labors and efforts a small price to pay in return for the gifts that my journey in Recovery has given me.
